Support Groups

When you are in the process of moving to Canada it can seem a lonely, frustrating time. However there is help at hand. You can join one of the following internet groups or forums. In our experience people on these groups are more than willing to help.
Join the group. Introduce yourself and post any questions you may have. You can also help others with your own knowledge of the process.
Here are the groups we have found:
- Brits2Vancouver
This is an active group, and even arranges social get togethers in Vancouver. A good way to meet people when you arrive here.
subscribe via e-mail to:
Brits2Vancouver-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - Van-Immi
Another Vancouver based group, with overlapping membership to the Brits2Vancouver group. Also recommended.
subscribe via e-mail to:
van-immi-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - UKtoCanada
This is a more general group in that it focuses on those applying to immigrate via CHC in London.
subscribe via e-mail to:
UKtoCanada-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - BritainToCanadaImmigration
This is another support group but with members moving to all areas of Canada.
subscribe via e-mail to:
britaintocanadaimmigration-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - British Expats Forum
Join this group and look at the Canada forum. It can be quite useful as it attracts a variety of people, both en-route and already in Canada. - Discover Vancouver Forum
A forum with some useful posts amongst the more dubious threads. Start your own discussion! - Access Okanagan forums (A-OK)
For those bound for, or living in, the Okanagan, this site might be a good place to visit. - Newcomers Club
This is a club for you to join once you are in B.C. It is a national network of clubs with a variety of activities. It is mainly for women, though some activities involve men - our local one has a wine tasting group where men can come. An excellent way to meet others who have recently moved to the area.
