Hi Dawn,
there is some information on our web site on nursing jobs including information on the exams you will need as a foreign trained nurse. There is a link to the immigration information you will need from there too.

Good luck.

Hiya,

It's not the rain we find that's a problem, per se. It's the complete lack of light, lots of overcast days in winter, like the UK, though the summers are much better, as you know. (And a lack of 'lights' in homes, as you said....:)

We're on the island, and find it drier than Vancouver. Victoria is a fine city, though some may say 'windy' but can't have everything.

Cheers,

Gregor.

Good point. Driving in snow and ice is something that many new Vancouverites are not familiar with. So worth getting some lessons. Sometimes the relaxed pace is too relaxed, but that's a small price to pay.

Hello Frank

Good to see some advice regarding driving in BC.
My experience of driving in Canada has been very positive so far.
It's far less stressful than in the UK, and the relaxed pace gives you more time to think about negotiating 4 way stops etc.
My wife and I will take some lessons first, as our tests will probably be in snow!

Ah! Driving licence - not one of the things i most wanted to do when taking up residence in Canada. Here is a small tip. My husband and I both retook our driving test - we had both been driving in the uk since the legal age and each had over 20 years of almost accident free experience. The only difference we found when taking our tests was that when asked if this was our first test we gave different answers. My husband said 'No' assuming that his UK test counted and i said 'Yes' assuming they meant tests in Canada. He passed and I failed. On failing the instructor told me "We fail 95% of new drivers, so dont worry, you will pass next time". Maybe something to bear in mind
