LGBT issues topic of upcoming film screening and panel discussion

Queering the Filipino Diaspora will tackle issues of LGBT youth, religion and immigrant parents. The panel will include Filipino- Canadian filmmaker Joella Cabalu and her brother Jay, the subject of Joella’s nine-minute documentary “StandStill.” The documentary was screened at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. Queering the Filipino Diaspora will be held on March 17 from 4 to 6 pm at the Liu Institute for Global Issues, located at 6476 NW Marine Drive, UBC. Read more.

Newcomers Canada Fair returns to Vancouver

The Newcomers Canada Career Fair will be held on April 18th this year at UBC. Newcomers Canada connects employers, recruiters, governments, education providers, immigration specialists and settlement services with internationally educated and trained professionals already in Canada.

Companies such as British Council – IELTS, IDP – IELTS, Vancouver Public Library, Coram Construction, JBS Foods, Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Red Seal, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), New York Institute of Technology, National Association of Career Colleges, Industry Training Authority, CIP Consulting plus many more will be there.
