Thoughts for Thanksgiving

This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving (which is not the same date as it is in the US). Rather than talk about how Thanksgiving is celebrated I thought I would come up with a personal list of things to be thankful for now that we are in Canada.

  • I am thankful to be living in such a beautiful part of the world
  • I am thankful that the people I meet are generally friendly and smile easily
  • I am thankful for supermarkets that bag my groceries
  • I am thankful for the lack of crowds
  • I am thankful for the bears that live nearby (as long as they don’t get too close)
  • I am thankful for the huge choice of ethnic restaurants so I can sample the world’s cuisine in my neighbourhood
  • I am thankful for polite and well behaved children and teens
  • I am thankful for Canadians relative lack of the celebrity culture (unless the celeb plays hockey)
  • I am thankful for the chance to ski, snowboard or snowshoe so close to home
  • I am thankful for the Ocean to look at as I drive along the highway
  • I am thankful for polite drivers letting me merge into their lane without complaint
  • I am thankful for the huge choice of great coffee bars
  • I am thankful for the great education my kids got at our local high school
  • I am thankful for the ferries that allow us to travel to and from Vancouver Island
  • I am thankful for the trails and parks that let me get out into the forest with our dog
  • I am thankful for the local fruits and berries that make summer so tasty
  • I am thankful for living in a country whose banking system is so stable and conservative
  • I am thankful for the fine wines and beers that are produced right here in BC
  • I am thankful for the relaxed pace of life here
  • I am thankful for the rain that refreshes the garden and keeps everything so lush and green
  • I am thankful for the snow that politely stays on the mountains and not on my driveway
  • I am thankful for my comfortable home
  • I am thankful for the seasons that change
  • I am thankful for Halloween and the pleasure it brings all the little kids
  • I am thankful for the quiet pride that Canadians have in their country
  • I am thankful for the health services who help keep us all well
  • I am thankful the friends we have made here in Canada
  • I am thankful to the internet, facebook and Skype for helping me keep in touch with friends and family in distance places
  • I am thankful for everything that makes my life so enjoyable

and I am thankful for all my readers!

What are you thankful for?
