Mothers Day – time to run

Vanier Park
Downtown Vancouver from Vanier Park

This weekend is Mothers Day in Canada.

Mothers Day is apparently one of the busiest days in restaurants around the city. What better way to enjoy the day than to treat your mother to a slap up meal in one of our great restaurants.
Apparently not everyone thinks that way because this Sunday is also the Vancouver Sun Run. This 10k run around the city is always well attended and each year the number of runners seems to increase. I don’t know what the double booking with Mothers Day will do to the numbers but my guess is that this will not make much difference.
The other thing that excited us this week has been a visiting grey whale that spent a couple of days cruising around Vancouver. It is a pretty rare sight within False Creek and English Bay to see a whale, so there was some excitement. The main aim, apart from taking photos, was to send the whale back out to safer waters. It seems that has happened but maybe he will be back to see the Sun Run.
