Our youngest son, Greg, is in Grade 12 and so will be graduating this year. Having gone through this with his three older sisters already, we are perhaps too laid back about it all. We forget how stressful it is when you are 17 and waiting to see if your grades and exam marks are good enough to get you into the university you want.
In BC, if you are applying for a college or university within BC, you can self-report your marks. Students are then hoping to get early acceptance and reduce their stress. Then they can concentrate on the Grad parties.
Marks are submitted online and admission results are also available that way. Perhaps that is why the evening finds Greg on the computer. He is also a teen, so naturally he is also watching TV, texting on his phone and studying.
Whatever he is doing, it is working since he has been accepted by UVic, his first choice university. He will be going there in September and now just needs us to buy him a laptop so he can continue studying.
